Javier Castro will be in residence at The Square from March 9 - May 3, 2024.

Javier Castro is a Cuban artist who resides between New York City and Havana, Cuba. His work addresses concepts of marginality, race, religion, and broken paradigms through a wide artistic practice that spans video, photography, sculpture, drawing, and installation.

Javier studied at the National Academy of Fine Arts and Higher Institute of Art in Havana, Cuba. He has exhibited extensively in more than fifteen countries including the United States, Senegal, Colombia, the United Kingdom, and China. His work is a number of prominent collections including The National Museum of Fine Art (Havana), the Daros-Latinamerica Collection (Zurich), the Kadist Art Foundation (San Francisco), and the Perez Art Museum (Miami), among others.
