Jia Sung will be in residence at The Square from June 5 - July 23, 2023.

Jia Sung is a Singaporean Chinese artist based in Brooklyn, New York. Her multidisciplinary practice includes paintings, drawings, tapestries, and literature, addressing contemporary queer feminist identity in the context of Chinese mythology, Buddhist iconography, and folklore.

Jia holds a BFA from Rhode Island School of Design, and has exhibited extensively throughout the United States, including at a number of prominent commercial and nonprofit spaces such as MoMA PS1, the RISD Museum, and Lincoln Center. Her work is already in the permanent collections of SFMOMA, The Yale University Collection, and the University of Pennsylvania Collection, among others. Jia also is an adjunct professor at her alma mater, RISD.
