Moving Through Art: Our Common Ground

Register here.

Join New Wave artist Ana Maria Velasco for a morning of breathing, awareness, and art practices as part of her social engagement-based performance series “Our Common Ground.”

This series of interactive gatherings aims to capture a collective moment placing emphasis of what it really means to be a community while rethinking and reinventing how art spaces can potentialize everyday rituals in order to highlight our inter-being and interdependence. The practices of conscious breathing, movement, rituals and art making serve as a symbols of healing, unity, and potential. It shows us how we can remain connected even while we may feel separated due to our different world-views and backgrounds. Highlighting our shared experience bringing into focus the vividness of daily life.

Ana Maria will provide exercises to increase awareness of our own body and mind through these activities which can bring immediate joy and peace while revealing how to be aware of relationships with others and of the world around us, its beauty and also its unbalances and injustices. Though simple “art gestures” she encourage us to continue working on sustaining inner peace by turning the “mindless” into the mindful.a

Open to all ages and free to enjoy.
