SARAH GAVLAK
In 2005, Sarah Gavlak opened the first contemporary art gallery in Palm Beach after recognizing a lack of local gallery presence there. She founded her eponymous gallery with the goal of championing female and LGTBQ artists. Over the last 14 years, she has staged highly conceptual and pioneering exhibitions, which include early solo presentations by Marilyn Minter, Betty Tompkins, Simone Leigh, and Wade Guyton. In 2014, she expanded her footprint and opened a 5,000 square foot space in Hollywood, and recently took on representation for artists Gisela Colon, Beverly Fishman, Candida Alvarez, and Vanessa German.

 

LEONARD JACOBS
Leonard Jacobs (Executive Director) was born and raised in Queens and fell in love with theatre in utero. He has worked as a playwright, director and producer, and became an arts journalist, editor and theatre critic not long after Thespis stepped out of the chorus line. Currently, he serves as Executive Director of the Jamaica Center for Arts & Learning. Prior to JCAL, he was Director of Cultural Institutions at the NYC Dept. of Cultural Affairs, National Theatre Editor at Backstage and Founding Editor of Theatermania.com. He also created The Clyde Fitch Report, which published opinion and reporting from the crossroads of arts and politics. He graduated Jamaica HS, NYU (BA), and Hunter College (MA), and taught arts administration at Baruch College for three years.

Beth Rudin DeWoody, art collector, and curator, resides between Los Angeles, New York, and Palm Beach. She is President of The Rudin Family Foundations and EVP of Rudin Management. Her Board affiliations include the Whitney Museum of American Art, Hammer Museum, and others. She is an Honorary Trustee at the Brooklyn Academy of Music and on the Photography Steering Committee at the Norton Museum.

Barry Blumberg is an award winning producer and creative executive with over 30 years of experience and has served as President, Walt Disney Television Animation, Executive Vice President, Harvey Entertainment and most recently Chief Content Officer of Alloy Digital/Defy Media.  He serves as an advisor to anumber of companies in the media sector, is an active member of UCLA’s Entertainment Council and a mentor to undergraduate students and is a frequent lecturer at UCLA’s Anderson Business School. He has been an avid collector of contemporary art for over 25 years and is a graduate of UCLA. Barry lives in Beverly Hills with his wife, Sarah Gavlak and his 16 year old son, Amos.

Franklin Sirmans is an American art critic, editor, writer, curator and has been the director of the Pérez Art Museum Miami (PAMM) since October 2015. He has held curatorial positions at Dia Art Foundation, The Menil Collection and LACMA.

A longtime patron of the arts, Jill Bernstein is the American Friends of the Israel Musem (AFIM) Board president where she has served on the board for a decade. She currently serves on the boards of the Brooklyn Museum and Artis, a nonprofit organization supporting contemporary artists from Israel as well as the National Councils of The Whitney and the Aspen Art Museum aof which she was a Board member from 2007 through 2017. For over 20 years, Bernstein has also been Vice President of the Board of Island Harvest, a food rescue organization, and is a trustee of the Washington Institute for Near East Policy.

Nico Wheadon is an arts advisor, curator, educator and writer based in New Haven, CT. Nico, alongside her partner Malik, is founder and principal of bldg fund, an innovation platform for BIPOC artists, entrepreneurs and neighbors. Her extensive background as an arts advocate, creative producer and cultural strategist supports bldg fund in connecting innovators with the necessary capital and collaborators to transform ideas into impact.Nico is an adjunct assistant professor of Art History and Africana Studies at Barnard College, Professional Practices at Brown University, and Art & Place at Hartford Art School. She has also guest lectured at Yale, Princeton, Brown, MIT NYU, Pratt, The New School and Howard. Beyond the classroom, Nico has lectured internationally on topics including: the future of museums; art and entrepreneurship; arts-led regeneration in the post-industrial city; and building artist-led institutions.A regular contributor to The Brooklyn Rail, Artnet, and C&, Nico’s first manuscript—On  Museum Citizenship: A Toolkit for Radical Art Pedagogy, Practice, and Participation—is slated for publication in Spring 2021. The book brings together over forty pioneering voices from the field to reflect on canon-shifting practice currently taking place within, beyond, and through the museum space.Nico currently serves on the Board of Governors at the National Academy of Design, and the Advisory Board for the Lubin School of Business Transformative Leadership Program. Lindsay Taylor is an art advisor working in NYC, where she focuses on providing direct support to contemporary artists by helping individuals and companies curate art collections that they love. Lindsay spent over twelve years working with the non-profit Free Arts where she helped pioneer one of the most successful art auction fundraising models. During her tenure there she began working with some of the most influential contemporary artists, including Marilyn Minter, Richard Phillips, and Christopher Wool, among others. She also serves on the Collectors Committee for ArtCrush at the Aspen Art Museum.
